In our first live session from New York City, Radio Allegro goes backstage of the hit off-Broadway musical "In the Heights" to chat with composer-lyricist-star Lin-Manuel Miranda, director Thomas Kail, and cast member Mandy Gonzalez who plays Nina in the show. "In the Heights" has won a number of major awards including the Lucille Lortel, and Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical. It was nominated for Drama League, and Drama Desk awards for Best Musical. RA was thrilled to have the oppurtunity to chat with the minds behind this fabulous show!

Lin Manuel Miranda-
wrote the first incarnation of In The Heights his sophomore year at Wesleyan University, CT. Received the Georgia Holof Lyricist Award for In The Heights at the 2005 O'Neill Music Theater Conference. Composed commercial music for Fernando Ferrer and Eliot Spitzer. A co-founding member of Freestyle Love Supreme, a hip-hop comedy group that tours comedy festivals all over the world. Love to Luz, Luis, Lucecita y Mundi. Dedicates In The Heights to the memory of Abuela Eva.
Thomas Kail-
Artistic Director and co-founder of Back House Productions, resident theater company of NYC's The Drama Book Shop. Co-creator and director of Freestyle Love Supreme. Recent work seen at: Ars Nova, HBO Comedy Festival, The Cherry Lane (Mentor Project), Edinburgh Fringe, Flea Theater, Melbourne Comedy Fest, O'Neill Musical Theater Conference. Graduate of Wesleyan University, CT.
Mandy Gonzalez-
OBIE Award winner for Eli's Comin' Off-Broadway. Starred on Broadway in Lennon, Aida, and Dance of the Vampires. Proud Member of the Broadway Inspirational Voices.
